The Parent Giving Program
True Cost of Education
Since 1865, Loyola has stood by our commitment to provide an unparalleled education at an affordable price. The actual cost of a Loyola education is $19,900. Yet we only charge $14,810 - a fraction of the price of similar schools. That means a per-student shortfall of $5,090. The result is a $6.2 million deficit in operational expenses.
We do this in accord with our Jesuit philosophy - to keep tuition affordable for families who would not otherwise be able to pay for it. This creates a rich, vibrant and diverse community reflective of both the city around us and the world our sons will enter.
We make up the cost difference through our endowment and by reaching out to alumni and friends. They help, but it only goes so far. That’s why we created the Parent Giving Program over 30 years ago. Your gift to the Loyola Fund directly benefits all students, faculty and programs and helps maintian our facilities. Without your contribution we simply could not continue to keep tuition affordable for families in need. A gift of any size helps. For those who can pay the actual cost of education, we ask that you do so. For those who can do more, we suggest adopting a family that could otherwise not afford to come to Loyola. Unlike tuition, your gift to the fund is tax-deductible. It’s a direct investment in your son’s education.
Your participation will help to ensure that all students, regardless of financial means, are able to receive an outstanding Jesuit education at Loyola High School. Our goal is 100% participation.
Every gift matters. A.M.D.G.

How much should I give?We ask families to do everything they can to make up the difference between tuition and actual cost. Some families generously “adopt a student” and give $10,000 or more to cover the gaps of both their son and another student on financial aid. We ask that you give to the best of your ability and within your means. For some of you this may be $50,000 a year, for others it could be $500 or $50.
Why should I participate in the program?
Remember, tuition is actually less than the cost of your son’s education. Your participation helps to close that gap. The Loyola Fund helps to keep the student experience diverse and teaching excellent. Our tuition is extremely competitive in comparison to other private schools in Los Angeles. Without your gifts, tuition would be $19,900 this year.
What about increases in tuition? Shouldn’t that cover operating expenses?
Keeping with the Jesuit tradition, tuition will never fully cover the operating costs. We make up the difference through appeals to alumni and friends and through events such as our annual Interchange Auction. While these help, we still rely on parents and families to do their part and bridge the gap.
How is the money used?
All gifts are spent in direct support of the educational experience of your son. Your gift will enrich the academic, spiritual and co-curricular offerings of the school.
Are there any other ways I can help Loyola?
