OHM festival is coming Tuesday, May 21st in the Berendo Building. Starting at 5 PM in the orchestra room, we will have music by the bands, african drumming ensemble, jazz band, chamber and concert choirs, and student soloists.
Senior Ry Christiaansen was named Farmer’s Student Athlete Citizen of the Week and was interviewed on Fox Sports on Wednesday, May 8. Loyola Director of Campus Ministry Matt Schaeffer was also interviewed. Christiaansen discusses his community outreach efforts including serving as a teacher’s assistant at South Central’s Transfiguration School. Padre Alfonso Gomez, SJ, former provincial of the Argentina/Uruguay Jesuit province, visited the Loyola campus to speak with our Intercambio students and chaperones about Argentina and Uruguay on Wednesday, May 8. Padre Alfonso is the former provincial of the Argentina/Uruguay Jesuit Province. He was joined by Fr. Ted Gabrielli, SJ, provincial assistant for international ministries for the California Province of the Jesuits.
Pope Francis has named Fr. Michael Barber, SJ, 58, brother of Loyola's Fr. Stephen Barber, SJ, to become the fifth Bishop of Oakland. Bishop-elect Barber will be ordained on May 25 at 11 am in the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland. Fr. Barber completed his Regency assignment teaching history at Loyola High School from 1978 to 1981. You can read more about Fr. Barber here »
