Dr. Kevin Starr, the California state librarian emeritus, nationally honored university professor, renowned professor of history at USC, California’s foremost historian and the author of the definitive eight-book series on the history of California, passed away on Saturday, January 14 in San Francisco. He was 76 years old.

Loyola was honored when Dr. Starr agreed to write the complete history of our high school to celebrate its sesquicentennial.  The book, Loyola High School of Los Angeles: A Sesquicentennial History 1865–2015, brought to life in vivid detail Loyola’s 150-year history and the imprint it has left on Los Angeles.  The book currently resides in the National Library of Congress in the Southern California history section of the collection as well as in the Los Angeles Central Library. LAMP College Night for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors

December 21, 2016 • Xavier Center
7:00-8:30p.m.
Through LAMP (Loyola Alumni Mentoring Program, we are offering our sophomore, junior and senior students and their parents an opportunity to visit with Loyola alumni who are currently attending or who have attended various universities throughout the United States in an effort to gain the student perspective on that particular college experience. This allows you and your son a chance to hear first-hand about the experiences of our alumni at their particular school, and, hopefully, to put some actual life to what that university might offer and answer any questions our students have that might not be addressed by a college representative or through the school’s recruiting brochure.
