Experience Loyola Firsthand
See how the Cub brotherhood will help form you into a Man for and with Others. Explore our campus and learn about academic, co-curricular programs and financial aid. Discover just how Loyola has been educating the leaders of Los Angeles for 154 years.
You can learn about Loyola at one of our high school information nights hosted at various elementary schools. Visit our calendar to see all dates/locations. Here are three ways to be part of the Loyola experience:
Please join us on Sunday, October 27th from 1:00 p.m.– 4:00 p.m. for our yearly Open House. Meet teachers, administrators and current students; explore the campus; learn about academic, athletic and co-curricular activities as well as financial aid.
The Loyola High School 8th Grade Student/Parent Visitors’ Day is on Monday, November 11, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.Registration is required.
Eighth graders spend the day with a Cub, go to class and learn firsthand what it’s like to attend Loyola. Parents will learn all the details about their son attending Loyola from faculty, staff and administrators as well as attending a tour and a chance to hear from current students.
- 8th Graders
Each eighth grader will be paired with a current Cub who will be their guide for the morning and answer any questions they may have about what it’s like to go to Loyola. They’ll attend two classes, have a snack break and get to meet other Cubs along the way.
Since students are paired the day of the visit, we’re not able to assign a specific student with a specific eighth grader, but meeting a new Cub will help you get an even better feel for the school.
Parents of the eighth grade students are invited to participate in a parallel program/tour with information provided by admissions, administration, faculty and students while the eighth graders are in class. You’ll learn about:
- Academics/APs/Bell Schedules
- Counseling/Student Activities
- Athletics/Performing Arts
- Spirituality/Service Component
The Loyola High School 8th Grade Student/Parent Visitors’ Day is an optional program and has no bearing on the admissions decision.
Since school is in session, we are only able to accommodate the eighth grader and parents at Visitors’ Day.

Why take the practice HSPT?
The pre-HSPT offered at Loyola is only for 7th grade boys and girls. The pre-HSPT will offer students a first-hand experience in taking a high school entrance exam. This experience will benefit each student in their preparation for the official HSPT during the admissions process next year. Taking a practice HSPT will give students an opportunity to understand and feel what the official HSPT will be like by familiarizing them with test content, pacing and structure.
The pre-HSPT registration fee includes one practice test. An official comprehensive scoring report will be mailed directly to you from Scholastic Testing Service. These results can be used to better prepare for the official HSPT.
