The Loyola Varsity Golf team cruised to victory at Lakewood Country Club on Monday, May 13, winning the 2019 CIF Central Division Championship for the seventh time in the last eight years under head coach Robb Gorr. The team victory also marks the 10th CIF Golf title in school history.
The Cubs shook off a slow start and battled back from early bogeys to post a team score of 369 (+9), which was 12 strokes clear of second-place finisher Peninsula HS (381). Sophomore Justin Lee ’21 led Loyola at 1-over (73), while four other Cubs—Daniel Nunez ’19, Justin Wallender ’19, Brian Arnold ’20 and Timmy Von Der Ahe ’21—posted 2-over 74s.
