Rick Pedroarias '84
Ricardo Pedroarias, Ed.D. is a Director of Faculty, Coordinator of Students with Learning Differences, Spanish teacher, and football coach at Loyola High School. Rick has been part of the Loyola faculty and administration for 32 years and is an alum of Loyola from the class of 1984. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and History from Loyola Marymount University and his Master’s in Spanish from California State University, Los Angeles. In 2011, Rick obtained his Doctorate in Education from LMU. His dissertation examined the heritage language Spanish program at a private secondary school with an emphasis on bilingual and bicultural pedagogical practices.
He currently teachers Advanced Placement courses in Spanish Language and Culture and Spanish Literature and Culture at Loyola. Since 2013, Rick has been a part-time professor for the School of Education at LMU. teaching courses in theinstruction of academic Spanish for teachers, introductory and advanced courses in the instruction of world languages, Catholic school leadership, and strategies for teaching English language learners.
