Jamal K. Adams '90

Mr. Jamal K. Adams ’90 is the president of Loyola High School of Los Angeles. Mr. Adams is a seasoned educational leader with more than 25 years of experience driving transformation across both academic and business sectors. A proud graduate of Loyola High School, Mr. Adams earned a degree in Economics while playing basketball at Columbia University. He went on to spend 11 years in finance in New York and Los Angeles before returning to Loyola as an educator, where he later earned his Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount University, graduating with honors.

Before becoming president of Loyola High School, Mr. Adams served as principal for two years, overseeing all academic and co-curricular programs in pursuit of Loyola’s mission. Mr. Adams also served as principal at La Salle College Preparatory in Pasadena, California, where he led academic initiatives for two years. Mr. Adams’ first stint at Loyola included serving as the school’s inaugural Director of Equity and Inclusion and as Director of Faculty. In addition, he taught Economics and African American Studies in the Social Studies department and served as Loyola’s head varsity basketball coach for 17 years.

As the current president of Loyola High School, Mr. Adams is dedicated to nurturing the institution in unwavering alignment with Catholic Jesuit values. He is committed to blending Ignatian spirituality with compassionate service, modeling courageous and adaptive leadership that honors Loyola’s rich traditions while embracing innovation. Mr. Adams seeks to foster an inclusive environment where every member of Loyola’s diverse community is respected and empowered, thereby establishing Loyola as a beacon of excellence and opportunity in forming “Men for and with Others.”
