Killabyte Cubs Host Robot Assemblies At Elementary Schools

Members of Loyola’s robotics team, the Killabyte Cubs (also referred to as FRC Team 3408), have been hosting Robot Assemblies at a number of under-resourced schools to help promote and foster interest in STEM and robotics. Later this summer, the Cubs will return to one of those schools—St. Lawrence Brindisi in the Compton/Watts area—to teach a four-week robotics program.

Earlier this month, five team members held an assembly at nearby Magnolia Avenue Elementary School, introducing the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) program, showcasing the “LHS Robot” and interacting with the elementary students, answering their many questions and allowing them to test out some of the robot’s features/capabilities. Students showed great interest and enthusiasm for robotics/STEM when our Cubs arrived.
