This course is for student musicians who have some experience (at least 1 year) playing guitar, bass, drum set, keyboards, and singing and want to play in a rock band. The ability to read music is highly favorable. Students’ skills will be assessed at the beginning of class to make sure they are able to participate and learn. Topics include rock band performance etiquette, various beats and rhythms, music theory fundamentals, and rehearsal etiquette. Students will also explore the history of rock and perform songs from the 1960s to the present. We provide drums, amps, basses, microphones, and PA system; students will use their own guitars and patch cords and drummers bring the drumsticks of their choice. Students are expected to perform in the concert at the end of the summer session.
