Church History: From Jesus to Pope Francis

This course will explore how Jesus of Nazareth became the object of a movement; a religion born out of Temple Judaism and for over 2000 years has become the largest religion in the world. The course will go century-by-century, highlighting key aspects of this development and the evolving doctrines and traditions of the Rome Catholic Church. This journey will at times delve into the historical, theological, social, economic, psychological, political and religious dimensions of a religious institution that has endured over two thousand years. This course will conclude with an effort to understand the future of the Church inline with the vision of Jesus himself…the “Kingdom of God” lived out here on earth.
