Summer: Drumset

This course is designed for the student drummer who is interested in expanding his or her technical abilities, genres, and rhythmic theoretical abilities. The students will collectively challenge each other with technical exercises and explore various styles of music that involve the drum set. The students will explore genres such as rock, funk, R & B, reggae, hip-hop, swing, be-bop, and Latin jazz. Most importantly, the students will be challenged through improvisation, which will expand their vocabulary of drum fills. Each student is expected to have his or her own drumsticks and practice pad; drum sets will be provided.
